MORE ABOUT ME
Research Profile
I specialize in the comparative, cognitive, and empirical study of literature and seek insights from interdisciplinary domains to study the personal and social impact of reading and promote its benefits to people’s lives.
My research has been awarded several grants. Most recently, it has helped acquire over 3.5 million euros in research grants, including the projects “Uses of Narrative Fiction in Social Contexts: Changes in Self and Social Perceptions”, funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO, Grant agreement No. 360-30-240; 2014-2018) and the ERC Advanced Grant “MORE: Moral residue – epistemological ramifications, ethical implications, and didactic opportunities” (Grant agreement No. 101054147; 2022-2027).
Over the years, I have collaborated with a team of literary scholars, educationalists, (organisational) psychologists, philosophers, and medical ethicists, investigating the cognitive and emotional impact of transformative reading (see collaborators on the “programs” link).
